A Major Road Slowdown: Live Updates on a Crash Causing Severe Delays
A busy route heading towards Cardiff came to a standstill on Monday morning due to a collision. The incident at Coryton, junction 32, has left drivers facing significant delays on the A470, with traffic monitoring services reporting delays of up to half an hour shortly after 8 am. One lane is currently closed between Taff's Well and Coryton, and emergency services are on the scene.
Traffic Wales has warned of heavy congestion in the area, and Inrix reports queuing traffic and one lane closed due to the accident. The breakdown of an HGV on the M4 eastbound in Bridgend is also causing delays, adding to the morning commute chaos.
No serious injuries have been reported, according to South Wales Police, who were called to the scene just before 7 am. However, the incident has caused significant disruption, with traffic remaining slow and delays continuing to increase on the A470 Northern Avenue.
As of 8:14 am, drivers are facing delays of nearly 30 minutes, and the AA traffic news reports an average speed of just 10 mph in the area. The recovery truck is on scene, and all lanes have been reopened, but traffic is still slow.
And this is the part most people miss... The M4 also experienced congestion due to a broken-down HGV in lane one, causing further delays for drivers.
Stay tuned for live updates on this developing situation, and don't forget to share your thoughts in the comments. Do you think these delays could have been avoided? Or is it an inevitable consequence of heavy traffic and road incidents?
