A Bold Stand Against VAWC: DMGC Agencies Unite in Pampanga to Protect Women and Children
In a united display of resolve, regional government offices housed at the Diosdado Macapagal Government Center (DMGC) in the City of San Fernando joined forces to bolster protections for women and children against violence, staging a solidarity parade, unveiling advocacy banners, and recognizing standout initiatives.
The event brought together DMGC-based agencies for a coordinated march across the government complex, signaling a shared duty to foster safe spaces and defend the vulnerable from abuse.
During the opening remarks, DMGC Chairperson and Philippine Information Agency Regional Director William Beltran underscored that violence in any form is unacceptable and should never be normalized. He pointed out that insufficient awareness about the varied forms and realities of abuse remains a key obstacle to solving violence against women and children.
“As a community and as concerned citizens, we must consistently support actions that safeguard our people, especially women and children. Let us unite to build a neighborhood where everyone is safe, valued, and free from harm and violence,” he declared.
A centerpiece of the program was the advocacy banner display, which provided agencies a platform to spread strong messages about gender equality, the prevention of abuse, and the importance of collective action in tackling VAWC.
Among the awards, the Bureau of Fire Protection received the Creativity Award for its imaginative banner design. The Department of Economy, Planning, and Development earned the Impact Award for delivering a message with significant resonance. The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) took home the Best and Unique Banner Award for its standout originality and creativity.
DOST Assistant Regional Director Belen Garcia explained that their banner design aimed to support the anti-VAWC campaign and raise public awareness to prevent such violence. “We want to promote that women and children must always be protected. We advocate for gender equality, and all those affected by abuse deserve help and to report it to the proper authorities,” she emphasized.
The event closed with a commitment pledge, with participants collectively vowing to oppose violence, safeguard women and children, speak out against abuse, and collaborate to create a safe, just community.
