Ringo Starr, the legendary former drummer of The Beatles, has announced a new album titled 'Long Long Road'. The album, set for release on April 24, features collaborations with renowned artists such as Billy Strings, Sheryl Crow, and St Vincent. The inaugural single, 'It’s Been Too Long', showcases guest appearances from Sarah Jarosz and Molly Tuttle, and was co-written by Starr and producer T Bone Burnett. This new offering follows his 2025 album, 'Look Up', which secured his first number one spot on the UK's official country chart.
Starr, who is 85 years old, expressed his gratitude for working with Burnett, stating that the collaboration led to the creation of 'Long Long Road'. The album, recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles, has a country and Americana sound and features many of the same band members from 'Look Up'. Starr also mentioned that the album includes musical influences from guitarist Carl Perkins, with whom he recorded two songs with The Beatles.
Burnett praised Starr's talent, describing him as an artist of the 'highest calibre'. He wrote a Gene Autry-style song for Starr, envisioning him as a Texas artist. The album's production team aimed to surround Starr with young, talented musicians from Nashville, infusing the records with fresh energy.
Sir Ringo, born Richard Starkey, rose to fame as a member of The Beatles, which formed in 1960 and consisted of Sir Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and George Harrison. The Beatles are the best-selling musical act of all time and one of the most influential groups in the world, boasting 18 UK number one singles and 16 UK number one albums. 'Long Long Road' will be released on April 24, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release.
