"I wasn't directly involved in the trade discussions," Curry said. "I was aware of the offer, and it's clear that no deal was struck. At this point, we move forward with the players we have."
Curry's primary focus remains a fifth championship ring, a goal that becomes more challenging with an injured Jimmy Butler. However, Porziņģis, when healthy, is a formidable player.
"Our goal is to stay competitive and finish the regular season strong," Curry emphasized. "We aim to be a threat in any playoff series."
The Warriors' playoff journey was abruptly halted last season due to Curry's injury. Despite a strong performance by Jonathan Kuminga, the team fell short in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Porziņģis, a stretch big man, has been a long-sought addition to the Warriors' roster, as desired by coach Steve Kerr. With his contract set to expire at the end of this season, the Warriors have the flexibility to reassess their strategy.
While Antetokounmpo's acquisition would have been a significant boost, the Bucks' high asking price, including trading away Draymond Green, was a potential deal-breaker. Instead, Golden State retained its future draft picks, focusing on Porziņģis for their championship pursuit.
