Get ready for a thrilling musical journey with White Denim's upcoming album, '13'! This highly anticipated release promises to be an explosive addition to the band's discography. But here's where it gets controversial...
Led by the talented James Petralli, '13' showcases a unique collaboration with familiar faces and new talents alike. Petralli, who has been at the helm of White Denim for the past half-decade, emphasizes the importance of his musical companions. He acknowledges the significant contributions of original members Josh Block and Steve Terebecki, as well as bandmates Michael Hunter and Matt Young.
In a heartfelt statement, Petralli shares, "I wouldn't call a project White Denim if it didn't include the essence of our founding members. '12' and '13' are a testament to that, featuring Josh and Steve in various roles. Music is my sanctuary, and it has connected me deeply with others."
And this is the part most people miss... White Denim's journey began in Austin, Texas, but Petralli has since made Los Angeles his home. The record also features fellow Angelenos Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith of Dawes, adding a unique West Coast twist to the band's sound.
But wait, there's more! Petralli's home studio sessions caught the eye of O'Connor Hartnett, a talented director of photography and neighbor. Hartnett's vision and creativity shine through in the music video for the album's lead single, "(God Created) Lock And Key."
Petralli describes the single as "a Captain Beefheart / Sun Ra-inspired piece." He hopes it will be a terrifying, startling, and visceral experience for listeners.
